Ah...Baselworld. Every year, around the same time, the watch aficionados pulse is raised to unhealthy levels. What will the big boys of the watch industry show this time? Collectors long to see the
novelties of the likes of Patek Philippe and Rolex, new technical innovations from the masters of Breguet or game changing features from Omega. Apart from the rebels of Richemont, who migrated with
their brands to the calmer shores of lake Geneva many years ago, the whole watch-world is gathered in the holy halls of the most important fair of the watches and jewellerey business.Join The Watch

It definitely does not feel like walking through the depressing halls of your everyday fair. It is more like having been instantly beamed to the promenades of Ginza, Beverly Hills or Hong Kong with
all their temples of luxury. Major players like Rolex and Patek Philippe are residing in "booths" that would pass as palaces, even from monarchic and oligarchic points of views. Although the fair is
open to the public, peasants usually are refused entry to the inner sanctuaries of the brands mobile homes. He who is worthy should either be from a jewellers purchasing department, or function as
ajournalist. Once inside and equipped with a glass of properly chilled champagne, the show begins. Oh, what joy!
Hey - Ho, let´s go!
Oris
Not too long ago, Oris have expanded into producing their own movements. This new beauty from the Artelier collection is called caliber 113. The status of the ten day power reserve is being displayed
through a very clever progressive indicator. What does this mean, you ask? Well, in the first couple of days, the hand drops rather quickly, only to slow down for the last two days of power. By this,
you should feel encouraged to wind the watch earlier, in order to maintain proper torque. Some of you may know a similar system from the Lange 1. It is always wise, to get your inspiration from the
best! Add a week indicator to the date and you have a very fine and interesting watch, all for 5800,- Euros. Not bad!
Retro done very right! Fantastic 1917 Vintage Big Crown. The little knob on the right allows time setting when pushed. Just like in the old days! Comes in a lovely little box together with a spare
strap. Very reasonable at around 2300,- Euros.
Oris love jazz! This years hommage honors the famed saxophonist Dexter Gordon, aka Long Tall Dex. Minimalistic dial with subtle details. The 12 o'clock marker symbolizes a saxophone reed and the
second hand is, of course, long and tall.
