Dear follower!
Thank you for joining me on this trip to the beautiful town of Brunnen in Switzerland, the land of cows, cheese fondues, creamy chocolate, anonymous bank accounts of foreign potentates and unbelievably ingenious watches. The picture above tells you all about the host of this event. Yes, this lovely pavillon, nestled directly at the shores of lake Vierwaldstatt, was erected solely for the cause of this presentation. But what was presented, you ask? Scrolling a bit further down will solve the riddle.......
So, it couln´t have been a more beautiful day! Living watch legend, Jean-Claude Biver, who is at the helm of not only Tag Heuer, but the whole watch division of luxury giant LVMH, arrived in style by helicopter. Wouldn´t we all love to travel like that! He carefully chose the location for this event, which could not have been more Swiss. Unfar from the birthplace of the Swiss nation, the famous Ruetli meadow, you might expect the unveiling of another mechanical masterpiece. Wrong!
Here it is! And no, this is not a mechanical watch, even though it very much looks like one. What you see is the Tag Heuer Connected Modular 45 in all of its diamond studded glory. It is their second attempt of conquer in the heavily battled field of smart wristwatches and believe The Watch Guardian, this is powerful artillery! But to all the manly mans out there: Don´t worry! There are many variations without diamonds. A whole lot of variations, in fact!
Here´s the deal: The word modular in the name of the watch describes one of the most fascinating features in watchmaking of the past years! In fact, the potential owner of such a watch can configure his personal model exactly to his liking. This is achieved through no less than 56 standard models, which can be altered or enhanced with various components. One starts with choosing the case module, which is made out of titanium, black ceramic or 18k rosegold, with or without diamonds. Next are the lugs. Those are available in titanium, ceramic, and gold, again with the possibility to add a little sparkle. Once you´re done with that, its time to choose the straps and buckles. Make your choice of natural rubber, calfskin, titanium or ceramic, add a matching folding buckle and you have your very own design. Well done!
But wait! You´re not done yet. If you are not satisfied with a watch that merely looks like a mechanical watch, but still only imposes it, then look no further. Thanks to the clever modular system, you can exchange the electronic case with a mechanical one. Ingenious! Lift a hidden lever and snap in a traditional module, equipped with the trusted self winding Tag Heuer Calibre 5., encased in titanium with a ceramic bezel. Step up your game a notch with a very special module, the famed tourbillon-chronograph movement T-02. First introduced 2 years ago, it has lost nothing of its technical fascination. You still can´t find a more intriguing tourbillon combined with a chronograph, waterresitant to 100 meters and chronometer certified for that price. Of course you still need an impressively sized wallet, but with other brands, a technical masterpiece like this would set you back for far more than the asked for 17900,- CHF, without the added benefit of an android 2.0 powerhouse. Agreed, that was a long sentence and I sure hope you are still with me, but it truly is a very impressive offer!
Thank you for bearing with The Watch Guardian for this long post! Have a bit of Mr. Biver´s cheese.
Yours sincerely,
The Watch Guardian
